On November 4th, 2008, Barack Obama was elected the next president of the United States of America. Some people were very happy about it, and they have great hopes for his presidency. Others were very disappointed, and have fears that his presidency will have negative consequences.

This site allows YOU – whether you voted for or against president Obama – to express your hopes AND/OR fears in regards to his future presidency. You can also browse the hopes and fears of others.

We thought it'd be nice to capture people's expectations to compare them with what really happens later.

This site is completely INDEPENDENT and totally NON-PARTISAN.

If you want to express a hope (e.g. "His presidency will show to the world that America is not racist") – click on "See hopes" – and you'll be directed to the existing list of hopes, where you can read others' hopes and voice your own hope.

If you want to express a fear/concern (e.g., "He will increase our taxes") – click on "See fears" – and you'll be directed to the existing list of fears/concerns, where you can read others' fears and voice your own fear/concern.

It's possible that someone else has already voiced the hope/fear you want to express. So, we recommend that you first read through the existing list and vote for the hopes/fears you agree with.
